We understand architecture as an interdependent process which emerges from the collaborative exchange between designers, makers and users. Shaping this dialogue is an important part of our work and helps us to deliver projects that are purposeful, specific, transformative – and sometimes instil a sense of civic pride.

For 15 years our ideas have helped to redefine how social and environmental policy is implemented. With Camden, we spearheaded a novel approach to tackling overcrowding. In Leyton, we have set a powerful precedent for high street regeneration nationwide. With Peabody, we are reconceptualising leftover urban space to build new homes. In Haringey, we are delivering London’s first self-build entrepreneurs’ village. In Morden, we have created Merton’s only creative exhibition- and experimentation hub. In Waltham Forest, we have won GLA funding for two major workspace initiatives. Our AAP for Stamford Hill won a London Planning Award in the category Best Community Led Project.

We work in a range of sectors including planning, housing, self-build, workspace and town-centre regeneration and have experience at all work stages, from concept, feasibility & funding applications to implementation on site. What is ubiquitous is a passion for the city and a willingness to respond to the very specific socio-economic context of the sites where we work.–

Many of our projects are in public places, they involve neighbours, building owners, customers, constituents, residents, tenants, stakeholders, vendors, officers and religious groups. We know that the success of our projects depends on an understanding of the aspirations and concerns of every single person that we work with.

JKA is a delivery-focused practice. We are just as concerned as our clients about the realisation of a carefully designed and technically adept project on time and on budget. An established working relationship with some of London’s most innovative engineers, designers, artists, researchers and craftsmen means that ad-hoc skills exchange, formal collaborations or outsourcing of specialist work items contribute to the successful delivery of complex project briefs.

JKA hold ISO 9001 (Quality Assurance) and 14001 (Environmental Management) registration from a UCAS accredited body. Our projects have won a number of awards including, London Planning Award (2 x), Waltham Forest Design Award, Civic Trust Regional Award and Civic Trust Community Recognition, Build Architecture Award and NLA Temporary Project Award.
