Our production of Schiller’s classic drama investigates the communication structures between the characters. It is not their class differences that creates conflict, but their unwillingness to compromise a small part of their personal ideology and ambitions to accommodate other people living around them. Language is used as a tool to dominate others and to paint castles in the air. Miscommunication causes two fatalities. The stage set makes the audience a bystander to the dramatic events by rigorously removing the boundary between stage and auditorium.
