Lantern House
client: Camden Council
–
The Lantern House is part of Camden Council’s Housing Strategy. Large family units are rare in the Central London Boroughs. The Overcrowding project seeks to re-organise and extend individual council flats to provide extra space for large families so that they can remain in their existing flats. The Lantern House provides two additional bedrooms and an additional bathroom on a flat roof occupied by a now disused water tank. At night a screen wall with stained glass panels provides a moment of architectural interest on the roof of an otherwise ordinary council block
