The sea is a place of mystery and adventure. It brings wealth or disaster, hope or despair, a new beginning or the end of a dream. Our production of Prokofjews musical fairy tale with director Anna Malunat, Tom Wait’s guitarist Marc Ribot and the Meine Damen und Herren ensemble explores the tension between two life choices, shelter and security or adventure and creativity. The spatial concept for Kampnagel’s K2 admits the sea into the performance space. Waves are lapping onto the theater walls, light dapples are animating the auditorium ceiling and the musicians on their floating platform tempt Peter to follow the quest for freedom.
